One of my favourite locations on the East coast.  Lying just south of Staithes, this little gem of a place is full of magic, history and nostalgia.  The steep descent down tends to keep the crowds at bay but it is definitely worth the boggy walk down and very steep climb back up for what the cove offers.  The cliffs are full of geometric shapes coloured by the minerals and ores seeping through the clay and the beach is adorned by fossils.  Flanked by a cluster of ramshakled fishermens cottages with a whisper of a bygone fishing tradition now waning.  Previous to this industry the cove was an important harbour for the transportation of ore, taken by water further up the coast for processing, an industry almost completely invisible if it wasn't for the few mangled rusting remains.

I've spent days here, filling sketchbooks with ideas and doodles.... it is  a place to go to be settled and rejuvinated.
